Dancing at the Loft These people were all inspired by real Loft partiers. If you were ever there maybe you can find yourself or someone you remember. The dancing woman at center in the red dress was inspired by Donna Summer after seeing her perform her hit song "Love to Love You, Baby" at the Loft on Prince Street. It was on the occasion of her introduction to the New York Club scene. She had just come over from Germany to help publicize her new hit record. She stood in the middle of the dance floor with a microphone singing along with a recorded instrumental sound track while a crowd of curious and attentive admirers encircled her and swayed to the music. She wore a closely fitted bright red dress with a flounce in the short skirt. She seemed a bit shy and readily admitted that she wasn't up on the latest dance moves. She asked her audience to show her what they do on the dance floor at the Loft. They did.
